Corgis
By Grey. N

Corgis are a type of dog. Corgis are not born
with stubby tails, people tie rubber bands
around their tails, as a result there is no blood
circulation so the tail falls off. The Corgi cannot
sit so they sploot, splooting is releasing their legs
when sitting down.  To continue, they can live 12
to 15 years, and they are also great cattle dogs
in the country. They are very intelligent and each
have a different marking. There are two types of
Corgis, the Pembroke welsh and the Cardigan
welsh which is brownish black.
Corgis are the world's cutest dog!

                                          Physics of Drawing
Written and Illustrated By Evan T.

Drawing is the movement of the hand using a pencil.  Sounds simple right?
WELL IT’S NOT!
You have to have almost exact proportions.   It is complicated, you have to have an imagination
and be very experienced in drawing to be good at it.  If you are drawing a house or something
with straight lines then I would suggest to use a ruler, or if you’re drawing a box or rectangle of
some sort use a ruler for that, too.
You can find books on drawing in the library in Village Elementary, or other libraries.  In addition,
there are online drawing tutorials on websites that supports You-tubers that makes drawing
tutorials on popular things to draw and freestyle from imagination.

                   Oobleck
                                                           by:Payton. W & Rowan. H

Do you want to learn how to make Oobleck?  Get your materials and let's
make some Icky! Sticky! Oobleck!  Oobleck is fascinating when you play
with it. Furthermore, Oobleck is very mesmerizing.   Oobleck is not similar
to playdough.  Next, The molecules come together and fall apart in oobleck
which is the reason why it changes its state of matter. When oobleck has
pressure on it the molecules come together and oobleck becomes a solid
but, when Oobleck has  no pressure on it the molecules fall apart and become
a liquid.

 Materials:Cornstarch, Water, Food coloring(optional)
A bowl, and a spoon or use your hands instead.
Step 1: Start by pouring ½ cups of cornstarch into your bowl. Then pour in
¼ cup of water.

Step 2: Once the ingredients are in your mixing bowl, get your spoon or
hands and mix until thoroughly mixed.

After these simple steps you should be getting a solid and a liquid at the
same time.
Have a great time! Get messy! And learn a lot!

Social Studies
vs
Math
Olivia S.
Math is a very loved subject at Village Elementary school.
Ms. Rogers is the amazing math teacher that teaches at Village.
Ms.Rogers makes learning fun and funny.  We learn about
multiplying fractions and dividing them, too. In addition, We
learn about P.E.M.D.A.S and improper fractions-we are adding
and subtracting them. Meanwhile, She is also teaching us great
methods to help solve equations in math. Now, let's talk
about ss.   It means social studies that is taught by Mr.
Johnson. He likes to make funny jokes. He even writes some
on the board ; he calls them stupid jokes. However, Mr.
Johnson lets us write them, too,he gets them
from a book. Let's talk about how Mr. Johnson teaches
social studies. He makes these different colored books about
history and, they are four pages long. Some people love them,
like me, but most of the class doesn’t like to write in them at all.
In fact, He also teaches science, but that has nothing to do with
this article. I have asked the whole 5th grade on which subject
is their favorite.currently, math is winning. Social Studies is not
very popular of a subject. Here are the results. In conclusion, of
the two subjects that I like the most in school, my favorite one is
math. See you next time.

Military Branches
By Grey N Have you ever walked passed a statute and wondered ‘’
what military branch were they?’’ There are many branches in the military,
they are the Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, and the Marines. Each
branch has its own job. The Navy protects the sea at all costs. The Army attacks
on land when other armies  from different countries invade. The Air Force
protects the high sky with planes and guns. The Coast Guard spends most time at
a bay but also protects the land a little. And lastly, the Marines work everywhere on
a battle. Every branch protects the United States of America.

Taylor Elsworth-Dream Big
By: Makenna S.

Taylor Ellsworth is the best college softball player that
came from Georgetown High School.  She is getting
ready to start her 3rd season with The University of
Texas Longhorn softball team.  Taylor is an
OUTSTANDING catcher. Taylor is the best slugger
(slugger means a stupendous batter), and she can
smack the ball over the moon like a cow.  She has
had about 47 home runs in her career.  Taylor has
been to a couple of different states to play softball
like Oklahoma,  New York, California, and Arizona.  Because I know Taylor, she taught me the basics of pitching.
I personally know Taylor because my dad went
to highschool and college with Taylor’s Mom.
Taylor has one sister, Kylie, and she is a star
basketball player at Georgetown High School.

Here are a few questions I asked Taylor:

1.What is your batting average ?
Freshman year: .394
Sophomore year: .244
Fall of junior year: .384
2.What are all the positions you play and what is
your favorite, and Why ?
Positions I play: catcher Which is my favorite because I am
involved in every play. I have to have a special bond with my
pitchers as well as my coach. The better we work together the
more successful we can be. We are considered a battery because
we have to have each other to preform.
3. What does it feel to be a softball
player?
To be a softball player means being part of a bigger family. This game
is more than just yourself you have to learn to be there for others. You
learn you’re never alone. Being a softball player teaches you many life
lessons such as, hard work, dedication, communication, and many
more.
4. Explain,  how it feels to catch for a fast pitcher ?
At first it is hard because you have to anticipate where it will go, but the
long you catch and learn a pitchers tendencies the easier it gets.
5. How does it feel to catch for the Texas College Softball
Team?
It’s an awesome feeling being able to represent something so much larger than
yourself. When someone sees the Texas Longhorn logo they know exactly what
school it is. It’s an honor to be able to say I play softball for THE University of
Texas.
6. What is it like to be a student athlete?
Being a student athlete takes a lot of hard work. It consists of many long hours
not just on the field but in the classroom. Going from 6am weights straight to
class then right back to practice. At the end of the long days it’s a rewarding
feeling.
7. Do you have any information for younger girls that
want to play softball or college softball player when they
grow up to be like you ?
The advice I would give a young girl is to not be afraid to be great but to be
great you have to make mistakes. If you want to play college softball there is a
place for you, but nothing is just handed. Growing up my parents always said
that there is someone out there that is better than you and works harder than you.
So you must push yourself to be the best you can be, don’t give up!
