          What are the 5th grades sport trends? We chose to do these questions because, we wanted to know why they liked playing the sport.  Also, we asked  if it was challenging to each interviewed person. So all of these questions were answered off opinions.                   

           

       The questions we asked them were…

Football: 1st interviewed person :

Interviewer: “Why do you like playing football?”

Chance: “Cuz it’s fun and it’s an active sport”

Interviewer: “ Is it challenging to play football and why?”

Chance: “Depends who you’re  playing and who’s covering you.”

Interviewer: “ What is the goal?”

Chance: “ To win!”

Interviewer: “ Is it fair and why?”

Chance: “ Depends how the teams are picked”

2nd interviewed person:

Interviewer: “Why do you like playing Football?’’

Davyn: “Because it’s fun, it’s competitive, and you get to knock people out of there socks.

Interviewer: “Is it challenging to play Football and why?”

Davyn: “ I like chicken nuggets!  It’s challenging cuz,  wait!

It’s not challenging at all

Interviewer: “ What is the goal?”

Davyn: “To win”

Interviewer: “Is it fair and why?”

Davyn: “ Depends if  you're versing like the Browns then you will win x2 do not put loose.

3rd interviewed person:

Interviewer: “ Why do you like playing?”

Tate: “ Uh Uh because it’s fun and active. (laugh)”

Interviewer: “ Is it challenging to play and why?”

Tate: “It’s  challenging to some to see how far you get.”

Interviewer: “ What is the goal?”

Tate: “To win and destroy other teams.”

Interviewer: “Is it fair and why?”

Tate: “No because we win all the time.”

Soccer: 1st interviewed person

Interviewer: “ Why do you like playing?”

Memphis: “Because it’s interactive.”

Interviewer: “ Is it challenging to play and why?”

Memphis: “Yes it’s challenging because sometimes you kick people’s  shins.”

Interviewer:  “ What is the goal?”

Memphis: “Um the goal is to have more goals than the other team.”

Interviewer: Is it fair and why?

Memphis: “I’m mean really depends on the team”

Interviewer: “ Why do you like playing?”

Soccer: 2nd Interviewed person

Interviewer:  “ Why do you like playing?”

Cassady: “Because it makes my legs stronger”

Interviewer:  “ Is it challenging to play and why?”

Cassady: “No, yes actually because stop no, ok now it’s no,yes because they like to kick people’s feet and it hurts.”

Interviewer: “ What is the goal?”

Cassady: “The goal is to have fun and to win.”

Interviewer: “Is it fair and why?”

Cassady: “Well , sometimes  the fourth graders we play with and it’s not fair.”

                   We learned that the people who played these sports didn’t play just because their friends did. They did it because they like playing it.

Hurricane   Harvey’s   Oil  Panic!!

        When Hurricane Harvey formed and came charging through Texas, he destroyed our 2 biggest oil factories which caused a BIG panic EVERYWHERE. The panic is that people think that now there is not enough oil since the factories are destroyed, so now people are filling up giant containers with gasoline and they are filling up their car when unneeded.  It could be filled up to the max and then they would use like 5 gallons and then go back to a gas tank and fill it up to the max again. Also, the people who have the gasoline stations are not helping either, they are raising the price for gas, and people raise prices when the item is HARD TO MAKE,HARD TO GET,   and when there's NOT MUCH OF IT LEFT. Now that is unhelpful because people think that they are raising the price of gas because it's “HARD TO GET” and “THERE'S NOT MUCH OF IT LEFT,” but THAT'S NOT TRUE AT ALL!!!! People are just wasting the gas but they think that they are conserving it. But, the truth is that we have plenty of gas and oil and just because the 2 BIGGEST got destroyed doesn't mean that there won't be enough oil and gas. We still have others. They may just not be as big, but so what?  Size doesn't matter that much. What does matter is that there is at least 1 or 2 oil factories so that we can have oil!!!! So don't be one of the oil panickers - if you are, you are only making the matter worse and wasting oil and gas!!

We have surveyed 51 students and so far, Minecraft is in the lead out of our five choices. Super Mario is in second place but has less than half of minecraft’s votes. Pokemon and FNAF are tied for last place, and Super Smash Bros is in the middle. We decided to choose favorite video games as our  topic because we thought that it would be a popular choice with other students.

We chose these 5 video games for our survey because they were the most played in 5th grade. Here are pictures of the 5 games:

Jordan Spieth

Some of you may know about Jordan Spieth and we decided to write about him. He has recently won the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale which brought him even closer to the career Grand slam. A career grand slam is when a golfer wins four major championships. These are the Open, the Masters, U.S open, and PGA Championship. The next major championship he will have to win is the  “PGA championship”.

He’ll have to really fight if he wants to win this one.

Jordan Spieth’s quest to become the youngest to complete the career Grand Slam is far from over, but he has some work to do.

Spieth shot a one over in the first round in the PGA Championship on Thursday at Quail Hollow Club. He was four shots behind Grayson Murray and Brooks Koepka, who share an early clubhouse lead after three holes. Unfortunately, Jordan lost this event which put him in the wait for the next major tournament.

Cats v.s. Dogs

Which is better, cats or dogs?  The battle between who is better is debatable.  But, I want to break up that fight for the best and figure out which may be better.  In my opinion, cats and kittens are better than dogs and puppies but, that's just my opinion.  But it depends on the person's personality; if you're a cat person or a dog person.  But, if you are both a cat person and a dog person and you can't decide, I will help you!!  First things first, you need to know what having a cat or kitten is like and you need to know what having a dog or puppy is like. I have 4 kittens, 1 cat, and 1 dog.  So, I know what it is like to have and own dogs and cats.  It also depends on the animal’s personality. For example, I had a cat who acted like a dog.He was also really funny so we loved having him but, he ran away so now we have a lazy cat named Lacy.  (We should have named her lazy!!) And she does nothing and we always talk about if Lacy could talk she would say “Feed me human or I will make you have to call the ambulance!”  So, before you get any type of pet, not just cats or dogs, spend some time with the animal then you know what it likes and you know if it is the right personality type for you. Now, here is some facts about cats and dogs. Cats are pretty easy to take care of because they clean themselves and don’t shed as much hair as dogs. Some cats (not all cats) are cuddly and are willing to sleep on or with you. But dogs can be cuddly but not as much as some cats and kittens. The main problem with cats and kittens is THE POOP STINKS!!!!! I hate cleaning out the litter box because the stuff in it is disgusting. So if you hate having to clean out the litter box and if you hate awful smells you may not want a cat or kitten. Unless you train the cat to use the toilet then it shouldn’t be as bad.  Now, dogs, however, are no better because they just poop on the ground and leave you to take it and it smells pretty bad too!!!  Kittens, cats, dogs, and puppies are all playful and cute. Puppies and kittens will eat and get into anything and everything, unless the kitten or puppy has been trained.   Kittens and cats are WAY WAY WAY harder to train!!!  I still am having trouble training our kittens and it seems like I am making no progress at all and I’ve been training them for a month or two now!!  Cats won’t scare away people or animals by barking like dogs.   Instead cats will prefer to chill out and not care about it. They might meow but most cats probably won’t. Kittens will play with whatever they want to whenever they want to. They are way more likely to meow at things. So kittens probably won’t be the best choice for peace and quiet. The truth to who is better, …………… ;NEITHER!!! It depends on your opinion and perrrrrsonality!!!!! So choose the one that fits you best!!

            Texas Tech v.s. Texas Longhorns

Who’s your favorite?  The  5th grade thoughts, are…

We were able to take 57 5th graders out of 72

and recorded our results.

                                                                                                                                    

We got many responses on our survey.  Sorry to let the Texas Longhorn fans down but as you saw on the chart Texas Tech was the mode.Texas  Tech got 38 votes, and Texas Longhorns got 19 votes out of 57 5th grade students.  So, that means 67% of the students voted for Tech.  Although many students didn’t like Texas Tech they voted for Tech anyway because their team was not on there.  Maybe your thoughts are different but for now these are 5th grades opinions for Tech v.s. Texas.
