NBA Playoffs

We are going to do a survey on who the people in 5th grade think is
going to win NBA playoffs.  Who do you think is going to make it to
the Finals? There are the Rockets, Timberwolves, Thunder, Jazz,
Trail Blazers, Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Spurs, Raptors, Wizards,
Celtics, Bucks, 76ers, Heat, Pacers,and the Cavaliers. Here are our
results out of 35 students.(Note, only the teams that got at least one
vote)

The NBA conference finals are May 15-16.(But, could be moved

up to May 13-14)  The NBA Finals start on May 31. This is who

the 5th graders thought would win the 2018 NBA finals.  Who
knows who will make it but we can’t wait to see.

The Bahamas

Have you ever wondered what the Bahamas are like? Well. If you have,
this is an article to read! I have been to the Bahamas on a vacation with my
family. In the Bahamas, you have a great view of tropical beauty. The ocean
is just like it looks in those pictures. The Bahamas have great food and drinks
too, The only main problem with the Bahamas is that everything is super
expensive; for example, 1 jug of milk is like $8.00! The weather is hot, but
there is a constant breeze that cools everything down. There is also many
things to do in the Bahamas, I went to Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas,
with my family. One thing I did with my family was go to Jaws Beach -
the beach where the movie Jaws was filmed! Another thing you can do is
go on a boat ride to an island and feed iguanas grapes, then the boat takes
you to another island and you can feed stingrays! You can also watch the
staff there feed sharks! You can even go snorkeling to a coral reef, but the
water isn’t on your side; my brothers went snorkeling and they had to swim
through rough currents and waves. But they thought it was worth it! My
grandpa and I climbed up a cliff and the view was so beautiful you could
see the entire island, and if you go a certain direction you can enter a
mini jungle-like place and leaves and trees surround you. On the
island there are bathrooms and there is a shady area where you eat
and drink. But when you’re in the water, BE CAREFUL WHERE
YOU PUT YOUR FEET! I was swimming and I put my foot on the
bottom of the shallow water and a sharp shell went into my foot. The
shell hurt a lot and, trust me, you do not want that to happen to you!
On the island you can also “swim with pigs” but it isn’t what it sounds
like. The only way to get to the island is on a boat ride called
Powerboat Adventures. Back in Nassau I went on a food tour that would
tell you about the history of the Bahamas and obviously you would get to
eat too. It’s way better than a normal history class! The Bahamas have
very unique food and its pretty good too! The first thing you go to
on the food tour is a restaurant and they will give you a conch fritter,
it kind of tastes like a hushpuppy. In case you don’t know what a
conch is, it’s the animal that lives inside conch shells. They also give
you a good sauce with the conch and it’s GOOD! Then they give a
plate of multiple things and most of it is pretty good. Then you get a
good drink that kind of tastes like lemonade, then you go to a nice
place and drink this really good fruity drink. At this place there is
also a Blue Macaw Parrot named Max. You can hold Max, but don’t
pet him……  Then you go to a chocolatier place, AND YOU GET TO
EAT TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHOCOLATE, WHAT COULD
BE BETTER?! Well on the way to the Chocolatier place there are lots
of KITTENS!!!!! And also on the way you get to eat tree leaves and
they numb your mouth. Then you go to the capital of Nassau and on
the way there my sister saw a kitten and she picked it up. The kitten
didn’t even try to run it just let my sister and I pet it. Then we went
to another place and we got to eat some cracker-like things with humus.
Next we went to a place and we ate some soup that kinda tasted like
chicken-noodle soup. Our final destination was this cake-ish place
and we ate some cake, it tasted pretty good but I’m not sure what
it taste like I just know it’s good! In the Bahamas you could go to
Atlantis but we didn't do that, unfortunately. In the Bahamas, you
can also go Parasailing, but we also unfortunately didn’t do that.
You can also go to a very nice restaurant called The Blue Sail. There
is so much to do in the Bahamas that I can’t list it all, but everything
in the Bahamas is fun and you will never forget it!

     Chocolate vs. Vanilla

Chocolate and vanilla are the most well

known ice cream flavors and we decided

to find out what flavor is THE BEST!!!!!!

We found out that Chocolate won because chocolate

is more delectable and they think vanilla is bland and

boring. Personally, I, Royanne, like chocolate, and I,

Emy, like vanilla. I guess now we finally know which

flavor is the best which is CHOCOLATE!!

Village M.A.R.E 2017-2018

The Village has an event once every year.  

The event is called M.A.R.E. M.A.R.E stands for

Marine-Activities-Research -Education if you were

curious. The students get to learn about sea life.  

Each grade gets to do a different part of the sea.

For example, Pre K gets to do waterfalls. Kindergarten

learns about ponds. First grade learns and studies

about the Rocky Seashore.  Second grade examines

the sandy beaches. Third grade researches the swamps
and marches. Fourth grade overlooks the kelp forest. Fifth grade takes a jump into the

deep sea. Pre kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade all do their

work at school making the ecosystems and sea life.   Also, third grade, fourth grade,

and fifth grade do life size projects at home. The projects are the sea life they learn about.
They learn about ecosystems as well. We research, study, and educate ourselves with

the oceans’ ecosystems.

How to draw Anime!

I wrote this article because once I learned how

to draw anime, I was drawing it all the time. I am

hoping you will enjoy it as much as me.

1. First, draw a U shape that has a dull point at the very bottom.
2. Then, draw two lines from the top to bottom and left to right to make the face perfect.
3. Next, draw two ovals. One in between the right side and middle and one the other way around.
4. Then, draw a line in the eye that looks kind of like a smiley face mouth on the left side. Do the same on the other side.
5. Next, draw a nose just under the middle of the two eyes.
6. Then, draw a smiley face (or a frown) and a very small smile underneath.
7. Finally, draw any type of hair you want.

How to Make Slime

 Slime is a great way to relieve stress and fun to

play with when you’re bored. Slime is easy to make,

too!

Ingredients:

ToDIY4

1. Glue
2. Borax
3. Water
4. Spoon
5. Paint/Food coloring (optional)
6. Glitter (optional)
7. Bowl

1. Get a bowl and pour about one cup of warm water and

one tablespoon of Borax then mix until it dissolves. And,

set the bowl to the side.(In the video we put glue in first

instead of making the activator😂😂😂).

2. Next, get another bowl and pour your glue into the bowl.

How much glue you put in the bowl means how big your

slime is going to be.

3. Then, put in any food coloring, glitter, or any add ins

and mix.

4. After you have all that mixed, slowly add your Borax

solution. Add it little by little until it’s unsticky.  Also, in

between adding borax, you’re going to have to need it with

your hands.  This helps slime come together.

If you made this slime and you don’t know what to

do with it, you can decorate it with foam beads of

your color choice or any crunchy beads. Also, if you

are very stressed or just want something to fiddle with,

fiddle with slime. It can calm you and you can have

fun with it.
